Rituals

When it comes to achieving success, there is no blueprint, there is no formula. Yes, hard work, determination, motivation and consistency are all crucial ingredients when it comes to climbing to the top of success mountain, but everyone’s journey is different, and what works for one person might not work for the next.

Every success-seeker would be doing himself/herself a huge favor by incorporating a morning routine, planning every night/morning and attaching goals next to deadlines … no matter what industry someone is trying to conquer. However, if you are trying to take your entrepreneurial career to the top, you would be wise to incorporate these unique rituals.

Reflecting

For better or worse, but most likely worse, most people only reflect once a year. They reflect around the end of the year since the new year is just around the corner. Around this time, people look back on the year they just had, and they analyze what they did right and wrong. They search for ways to become better. They make new goals. This is all well and good, and New Year’s is filled with so much magic, if you will, but if people started reflecting every day, then they would get more value out of life.Rituals

Here’s why. When people reflect, they are seeing how they can become better, whether it is in the office, at home or any other setting. Instead of going through the motions for most the year, start analyzing your current situation. How can you make your life better from a work and personal standpoint?

Reflecting alone could help you change your situation — whatever it might be — for the better. It takes time and energy when done properly, but it is worth every second, every minute and every hour of the day.

“The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection.” — Thomas Paine

Eliminating Technological Devices — Even If It’s Only For An Hour

Technology is a very beautiful thing and it is truly a blessing. With that said, people are becoming too attached to their phones, computers and tablets.

At some point in the day (preferably at night after you have conquered a day’s worth of work), everyone should eliminate technological devices and enjoy some time away from screens. This alone could help people eliminate stress from their lives. Every day, people should be getting away from work, even if it’s the last couple of hours of the day, or right before bed.

Instead of checking your Facebook, pick up a book and read. Instead of watching TV for hours on end, spend time with your family/friends. Go on a walk. Anything. People need to make room in their lives for downtime. This little trick alone could help someone feel refreshed the next day. After all, if you are on your computer from the moment you get up until the moment you go to sleep because of work, then you are likely going to be stressed out. Not to mention, you will burn out in no time.

Taking Time To Learn Something New Every Day

One of the best gifts you can give yourself is knowledge. No, you don’t have to get a new four-year degree or go to grad school to gain said knowledge, although you can. Instead, you can read, whether it be a novel, an article, etc. Learn how to become a better businessperson, learn about your current industry, study up on your competition, figure out ways to become better at your job in general.

“I don’t have time to do these things.” How many times have you heard or said those words? We aren’t telling you to read for hours on end. We are simply saying to take an hour, 30 minutes or even 10 minutes to study up on your craft or learn in some fashion. This is only going to better yourself, and it is only making your future that much brighter. It is a gift for you from you.

Take time to learn something every day. You will not regret it.

Tackling Problems With Plans, Not Worries

When problems arise, we naturally stress out, and then all of the worrying comes pouring down. Instead of worrying how you are going to tackle a problem, start planning. Not only will a realistic and well-defined plan lead to you feeling more at ease with a specific problem at hand, but it will actually lead to you solving it.

This ritual is easier said than done, because everyone deals with stress/problems/worries differently, and some issues are bigger than others, but the key to tackling your problems is coming up with a plan to fix them. Worrying will literally do nothing.

Goal Monitoring

RitualsThis ritual is a must. To some people, it might be a daily occurrence. To others, it might seem like a foreign object.

If you want to achieve all of your goals, then you need to attach real deadlines next to them, and you have to — we repeat, have to — make plans for your goals. Saying you are going to make more money in 2017 is not good enough. How are you going to make more money? When will this goal become a reality?

On top of that, you have to constantly be monitoring your goals. If you don’t, then how do you know what is working? How do you even know if you are on pace to hit your goals? More likely than not, you don’t. Goal monitoring is another step in the goal-making process, and you would be doing yourself a huge favor by adding this ritual to your life.

“People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.” — Earl Nightingale

Don’t let your goals become foreign objects. Always be monitoring your goals. Know where you are going on your path to success.
